The Mercury Mountaineer 2WD is a mid-size luxury SUV that was produced by the Ford Motor Company from 1996 to 2010. The Mountaineer was the first SUV offering from Mercury, and was derived from the Ford Explorer. It offered a more luxurious interior, styling, and features than the Explorer and was sold alongside it. The Mountaineer was available in either two-wheel or four-wheel drive configurations. It was powered by V6 or V8 engines and featured seating for up to seven passengers.
