The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is the predecessor of the R129 series, which was produced between 1989 and 2002. The R129 series was the first series of SL-Class vehicles, and its main features included a lightweight body, an aerodynamic design, and a powerful engine. It was available in both roadster and coupe body styles, and was offered with a range of V8 and V12 engines. It was succeeded by the R230 series in 2002.
