The Hyundai Ioniq is an all-electric vehicle (EV) produced by the Hyundai Motor Company, a South Korean automaker. It was unveiled in 2016, with three variants available: a standard hybrid, a plug-in hybrid and a pure electric version. It is the world's first car to offer a choice of three electrified powertrains. It is also the first to be sold in the UK with two battery sizes and two motor configurations. The Ioniq's powertrain combines a 1.6-litre Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine with an electric motor, giving the car a total power of 140 or 170 horsepower, depending on the variant. As well as being an EV, the Ioniq also offers other green features, such as regenerative braking, which converts kinetic energy from braking into electricity to help charge the car's battery.
