Ford Explorer RWD (or rear-wheel drive) is an automobile configuration consisting of an engine that sends power to the two rear wheels of the vehicle. This is in contrast to four-wheel drive (4WD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) systems, which send power to all four wheels. Ford Explorer RWD is often a cheaper option than AWD and offers better fuel economy than 4WD. Ford Explorers are available with a choice of different engines, but the most common is the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine, which is offered in both RWD and AWD versions.
