The Fisker Karma was a luxury plug-in hybrid electric car produced by the now-defunct Fisker Automotive. Unveiled at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, the Karma was the first car produced by Fisker. The car was designed by Henrik Fisker, and was manufactured at Valmet Automotive in Finland. The Karma was a plug-in extended-range electric vehicle, meaning it featured both an electric motor and a gasoline-powered engine. Its range was around 50 miles (80 km) on battery alone before the gasoline engine kicked in. In total, the Karma offered an estimated 300 miles (480 km) of range. The Karma was priced at around $103,000 when it was released in 2011, but production was discontinued in 2012 due to financial issues.
