The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury SUV produced by the German automobile manufacturer BMW since 1999. It is based on the blueprint of the BMW E53 5 Series, and is one of the first SUVs from BMW. It is available in various gasoline and diesel engine configurations, including hybrid drivetrains. The X5 is one of BMW's most successful models, with more than 1.5 million units sold worldwide since production began.
